List of free legal Amiga game downloads

After the decline of the Commodore Amiga as a viable major platform for games, a number of publishers granted permission for some of their obsolete Amiga software to be released online for free at various websites.

The following article lists a number of sites which offer authorized, legal downloads of various Amiga games and software. Additionally, there is a list of games with links to the pages which have them.

Disclaimer: No files are hosted here; click the relevant links to be taken to relevant authorized distributors. A great deal of freeware, open source, or public domain Amiga software is also readily available online, but that is outside of the scope of this article.

Authorized download sites

• Ami Sector One: A large number of games and apps sorted by alphabetical order.
• Amiga Future: German site with numerous games, games, and apps.
• Back to the Roots (archived): It had over 1,000 authorized ADF games and 43 CD-ROM games. Unfortunately, the site went down in 2014, and the downloads are not available on archive.org.
• Borrowed-Time: Various games and apps.
• Dream17: A release of games by Team 17. The site’s Windows section also has some extra Amiga-compatible Worms content like the terrible “Oh Yes! More Worms” level pack and the CUCD7 content pack.
• Factor5: Download for a small number of games. The Turrican series is also here but only authorized if you already owned a legal copy.
• Gremlin Graphics World: Several games by Gremlin Graphics.

Notes

• While these sites have permission from the original publishers to distribute these games, further re-distribution may be prohibited.
• Factor 5’s website has Turrican 1, 2, and 3 for download, but they are only authorized for download if you already own a legitimate copy (e.g. your disks are damaged or you don’t have a setup to copy the original disks over to your emulator). BC Kid, Katakis, and R-Type are permitted for download by anyone.
• Back2Roots.org was one of the most important Amiga download sites, but it went down in 2014 and the domain has since been taken over by a junk site. The original site can be viewed in the Wayback Machine, but the downloads are no longer available. In 2010 it had 1,186 entries in its ADF-Games downloads section, many commercial. They aren’t listed in this article because the downloads no longer work, and even if you had a list of what BTTR had to download them elsewhere, that “elsewhere” might not be an authorized site.
• PPaint.com used to have a free download of Personal Paint 7.1c (legacy AmigaOS3 version), but since about May 2025 the site just directs to the AmiStore platform.
• AmiKit is a software distribution featuring over 450 pieces of Amiga software, including some full authorized commercial versions, such as MUI 3.8, Directory Opus 5 Magellan II, Eagleplayer, and a full version of Another World. AmiKit is a paid product, but they currently have an older version for free.
• As of May 2025, a new special edition of Worms TDC is being worked on.
